Afro Luxe was born from a question Dr. Boghoko Kaspa kept asking: why does a service as intimate and consequential as hair braiding so rarely prioritise the health of the hair it touches?
As a trained pharmacist with a Master of Science in cosmetic formulation chemistry, Dr. Kaspa understood better than most what tension, improper technique, and low-quality materials do to natural hair over time. She had also spent over 15 years braiding professionally — and she knew it could be done differently.
She opened Afro Luxe Braiding Bar in Laurel, Maryland with a single commitment: to deliver a braiding experience that is as rigorous about hair health as it is about hair beauty. The result is a salon unlike any other in the DMV — clean, editorial, luxurious, and genuinely grounded in science.
